Lawrence Axelrod, Principal
Lawrence Axelrod founded and oversees all aspects of services at Axelrod Energy Projects (AEP).
Prior to forming Axelrod Energy Projects, Mr. Axelrod developed and headed the fuel oil practice of Poten and Partners. At Poten, he originated, wrote, and edited an international fuel oil publication. He consulted on heavy fuel oil, feedstock, and bunker fuel. He provided cargo brokerage services in petroleum products, and also assisted in project development.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Axelrod was a staff petroleum economist at W.J. Levy Consultants Corp. At Levy Consultants, Mr. Axelrod analyzed and projected price and supply demand balances in world oil and natural gas markets. Clients of the firm included oil refiners, oil producers, power companies, large industrial consumers, and government entities.
Prior to joining Levy Consultants, Mr. Axelrod was a staff reporter for Petroleum Intelligence Weekly (PIW), now published by Energy Intelligence. At PIW, he reported and analyzed developments in world crude oil exploration, production, and marketing.
Mr. Axelrod began his study of the world oil industry as a graduate student at Columbia University. His doctoral dissertation for the Department of Political Science assessed the economic and political determinants of Saudi oil policy. Upon successfully defending his dissertation before a panel of three political scientists and two economists, Mr. Axelrod earned a Ph.D. from Columbia University.
